12-year-old Ava White was stabbed to death in Liverpool city center on Thursday night.
Four boys – aged 13, two aged 14 and one aged 15 – have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Police believe there was a verbal argument between Ava and her friends, which led to “catastrophic injuries” on Ava. After this the criminals fled, the police understood.
Police officers were called at 8:39 pm on information about the attack. When they arrived, they found that Ava, who was with friends, had fallen to the ground.
A member of the public who witnessed the incident was giving him first aid.
Paramedics try to help Ava and take her to Elder Hey Children’s Hospital, but she becomes sad shortly after.
The city center was very busy at the time as the lights on the Christmas tree had just been officially turned on. The police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or captured it on their mobile phone to come forward.
Assistant Chief Constable John Roy said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with Ava’s family, who are being supported by specialist family liaison officers. Their world is in ruins and any parent would have to say this to police officers. should not face the knock on the door that their child has died.”
He continued: “Ava’s death reminds all of us what a role we all have to play in ending violence against women and girls.”
