According to the police commissioner, two NYPD officers have been disciplined for pushing a man out of a subway station in Greenwich Village.

Video of the incident taken by @toriahall on October 19 shows a male and female officer pushing a man through an emergency exit door at 8th Street station. The video does not show the confrontation that led to the incident.

The man had asked the police officers “Why don’t you just wear a mask?” That was before they forced him out of the station, the NY Daily News reported.

According to Metropolitan Transport Authority “Masks are still required at indoor train stations and board trains, buses and paratransit vehicles in New York”.

NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said officers would be disciplined, but they would not be fired.

“I’m not trying to belittle it in any way, shape or form. I think we’re better than that. The public deserves better than that,” Shea said.

Officers can lose vacation time.
