2 straphangers slashed at Union Square station

Two people were murdered at the Union Square subway station on Tuesday night.

According to police, the suspect struck a woman in the face and a man several times in the head on an L-train platform inside a Manhattan subway station at around 10:25 p.m.

The attack left a gruesome scene for fellow passengers as blood streaked the platform and upper mezzanine.


Both victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

Outside the station, a man with a bandaged head and bloodied shirt was taken away in an ambulance.

Police are probing the suspected motive for the bloody attack.

The suspect fled the station in an unknown direction. No arrests have been made.

Police is probing what led to the violence. The NYPD was not immediately able to say whether the stabbing was a random, unprovoked attack or if it was caused by an altercation.

Slashing snarl l trains in both directions. The MTA tweeted at around 11 p.m. that both trains to Brooklyn and Manhattan were running late.
