State officials announced Wednesday that twenty-three outbreaks of the coronavirus have been reported within schools in New Jersey since the start of the academic year.

Outbreaks located in the following counties were associated with in-school transmission. State officials did not name the affected schools:

“An outbreak is defined as three or more laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases, epidemiologically, within a school setting within a 14-day period among students or staff. are connected, do not share a home and are not identified as close contacts. each other in another setting,” said NJ Health Commissioner Judy Persicilli.
