Canadian Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Caroline Bennett provided more context in her message regarding the Sisters in the Spirit Vigil.

“I urge all Canadians to take time today to honor Indigenous women, girls and Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual (2SLGBTQQIA+) people who are missing or who have been murdered,” said Bennett in a Statement on Monday. “We provide support to the families and communities that grieve their loss and to the survivors whose lives have been changed forever.”
