3 Dead, 6 Injured In Michigan School Shooting

A 15-year-old student at Oxford High School in Michigan was detained as a suspect in the shooting.

Three people believed to be students were killed during a shooting Tuesday at Oxford High School in Oakland County, Michigan, outside Detroit.

One suspect in custody Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe said at a news conference, a 15-year-old male who is a student at the school.

Six others, including at least a teacher, were injured in the firing. A handcuff was recovered from the scene, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, which responded to the shooting around 1 p.m.

According to McCabe, the shooting lasted about five minutes.

The school was closed and parents were asked to pick up the children.

“Pray for our families and our students,” school superintendent Tim Throne said at the press conference. “I’m shocked. It’s devastating.”

The suspected shooter student fired an estimated 15 to 20 rounds and “did not resist” when officers took him into custody, according to McCabe. Officials will provide more details about the victims later in the day.

“It’s a very sad situation,” McCabe said, “there were a lot of upset parents.” “You never want to prepare like this but you have to.”
