The 2020-21 Premier League season has once again been good for young players. The likes of Emil Smith Rowe, James Justin, and Phil Foden have all acted for their clubs and are set to go from strength to strength.
The Premier League season has not been so good for some youngsters, however, with some struggles to regain it.
Here are five young players who made a halt during the 2020-21 Premier League season.
# 1 Rhian Brewster (Sheffield United)
However, Brewster has not only made the impact that most observers expected. He is in and out of the Blade’s start-up, and by the time he has made 17 appearances thus far, he has not scored his first goal for the club.
It is worth noting that Sheffield United’s general conflict probably negatively affected Brewster’s development. But it is safe to say that thus at least in 2020-21, he has fully stabilized and is unlikely to reach his potential any time soon.
# 2 Brandon Williams (Manchester United)
Manchester United have had a number of young players break up over the years, including Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Scott McTominay. And in the 2019-20 season, it looked like Brandon Williams would join that list.
The left-back broke into United’s first team at the end of 2019 and went from strength to strength under Ole Gunnar Solskar – even retaining the older and more established Luke Shaw on points.
Some fans also considered Williams an outside bet for the England squad that was eventually postponed to the Euro 2020 tournament; This was their form.
However, known only for the reasons that Solaskar and United, Williams – now 20 years old – has been almost completely ruled out during the current campaign.
He Last season recorded 25 appearances, including 11 in the Premier League. This season, he appeared in her just five times, mostly as a substitute. In fact, he has not appeared since United’s FA Cup win over Watford on 9 January.
With Shaw now resurrected and new signing Alex Tales providing competition for him in the left-left slot, it does not appear that Williams will get many chances in the near future.
With a loan away from Old Trafford now impossible until summer, it is sad that Williams will continue to hold steady for the foreseeable future.
