A Place on a Place Laughs as her husband slams presenter Ben Hillman’s ‘extremely’ property choice.
The Channel 4 show was in Costa Almería, Spain, for the latest episode, with Ben guiding retired detectives Penny and John around the area in search of the vacation home of their dreams.
With a maximum budget of £105,000, Ben arranged for the couple to visit several properties. However, this proved to be a difficult case for Ben, with John branding a property “extremely”.
Penny and John give Ben a brief to find a place with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. They also wanted a modern holiday home with outdoor space and great views.
Seasoned property specialist Ben fulfilled many of his requests with the first two properties, but Penny and John still felt frustrated.
Hoping it would be a lucky third time, Ben offered John and Penny for another property, which cost less than £94,000. The apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, access to two communal pools and a communal tennis court.
John graciously said that this property is a claimant and a step in the right direction. However, things turned sharply downward at property number four.
The holiday home on the market for just over £102,500 was a 10-minute walk from a local beach. Matching their brief, it had two bedrooms, two baths, a terrace and a communal pool.
However, soon after entering, John clarified that he was not impressed, with Penny laughing: “I don’t like it. I don’t feel it at all, if I’m being honest.”
“It’s trendy but dark isn’t it?” Penny commented while looking at the small kitchen.
John replied: “It’s just worthless pennies. I want to come on vacation and feel like we’re coming to another house. It’s just soulless. It’s not homely, isn’t it?”
The couple meets with Ben and reveals their hurtful decision, with John telling him: “You’re back in the bad books.”
“Back in Bad Books”
Shocked Ben replied: “I’m back in the bad books? God it’s a rollercoaster ride.”
“It doesn’t feel like second home to me. It is soulless. No soul, ”John clarified.
Clearly at a loss, Ben revealed: “I don’t think the pressure has ever been the same as it is at the moment.”
Spaces to air on Channel 4 at 3 pm on weekdays.
