But the horror reaction of the boys was so priceless that the parents were worth the laughter, the successful prank going viral on social media.

Braxton, Brydgar, and their 10-year-old friend Kamden, were playing in the pond by the creek where they live when they said they were trapped – giving the naughty parent the perfect opportunity.

Alex, 27, a construction worker and Bradgar’s father, dressed up in a Big Foot outfit and hid in the woods, while Morgan, Veronica and Braxton’s father, Kevin, waited by the pond with a video camera.

‘In these parts and in Louisiana, people say that a big toe is loose and the big toe goes out to hunt.

‘Morgan always jokes to boys when they go out to play – ‘Don’t let Big Foot get to you!’

‘The boys had little doubt that he existed so we planned to prank him about a month ago but we didn’t get a chance till now.’

The prank was shared over 44,000 times after the video was shared on Facebook.

Morgan said: ‘We didn’t know it was going to go viral.

‘This is the best $100 I’ve ever spent!’
