Active shooter wounds several people at high school in Texas

Four people were injured Wednesday morning in a gunfight at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas.

Police say the shooting started after a fight broke out in a classroom and a student opened fire.

He named 18-year-old Timothy George Simpkins as a “person of interest” and said law enforcement was looking for him.


He is believed to be traveling in a 2018 Silver Dodge Charger.

Three people who were injured by two bullets were taken to the hospital, while one suffered minor injuries.

Arlington PD provided an update on its conditions on Wednesday afternoon, saying a 15-year-old male was in critical condition.

The condition of a 25-year-old male and a teenage girl is said to be good. The fourth victim had already been treated.

“This was not a random act of violence,” Arlington Police Assistant Chief Kevin Colby told a news conference.

“I very much believe there was only one shooter.”

Police arrived shortly before 11.30 a.m. after an “active shooter” was reported on the loose at a high school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Police said four people were injured, three were injured, and there were minor injuries.

The local school district wrote to parents to say the school was closed and that police were investigating an “active shooter situation” at the high school.

Just after noon, the Mansfield Granthshala School District gave the “all clear” to say that the immediate threat was over.

The Mansfield Granthshala School District told parents that students and staff who were locked up in their classrooms and offices were “being transported safely on buses”.

Arlington Police and neighboring law enforcement agencies responded to the incident.

At 11:30 a.m., the Arlington Police Department said it was at the scene and was “duly searching” the school.

In a video posted on TikTok, purportedly taken from inside a classroom at Timberview High School, three shots were fired in quick succession.

The students could be heard gasping, and as soon as the shots started to play, they took cover.

CBS posted a photo of desks and chairs barricading the classroom door.

Parents running to the school to find their children are being directed to a nearby building at 151 Mansfield Webb Road.

Law enforcement took pictures of the students as they boarded buses to be reunited with their parents.

Timberview High School has approximately 1,900 students from 9th to 12th grades.
