After announcing her split from ex-husband Simon Konecki, Adele has opened up about being concerned about her fans’ reactions to their divorce.

The 33-year-old singer admitted that she asked ‘Why don’t they like me?’ in an interview with rolling stone uk Magazine, gracing the cover of its second issue.

Adele, who also opened up about her romance with boyfriend Rich Paul, said she learned to take the comments with a ‘pinch of salt’.

She told the publication: ‘During something like this, when that kind of important thing happens in life, your mind goes to those places: “Why don’t they like me? Why would they write like this if they’ve followed me for 10 years? For?”

‘But really, it’s not their responsibility. In fact, his responsibility as a fan is to want a good record and hope that I do well. So I took it with a pinch of salt, and it was fine.’

Discussing the beginning of their relationship, Adele said: ‘I didn’t really tell many of my friends in the beginning because I wanted to keep it to myself. None of them believed it!’

In the early days following their separation, Adele said that there was a special moment when she felt ‘at peace’ with the decision to be single.

She explained: ‘I remember going upstairs, and doing my face, and going to bed. I was expecting a lot. It was the first time I thought I would have a great evening and I was fine to stay home and go to bed on my own.

Since then she’s been looking for that sense of peace, giving up drinking, hiking and sound bathing for six months.

Adele said: ‘Anything that could soothe my anxiety, I threw myself in the head. [I travelled] Anywhere where it means to have fantastic energy.’

Adele’s chart triumphs continued as her latest album 30 became the first album in over a year to sell over one million copies in the United States.

As of December 6, the hit LP has sold just over one million copies, according to Board and MRC data.

The album, which is her fourth studio release, continues to top the Billboard 200 album chart.
