The singer’s third chart-topping single made a massive 217,300 chart sales in its first week – the highest single-week figure since Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You”, grossing 226,800 in January 2017.
Adele also broke another chart record this week with the track racking up 24 million streams in the UK – topping Ariana Grande’s record set of 16.9 million in January 2019 with ‘7 Rings’.
‘Easy on Me’, his first single in five years, earns the biggest week of digital download sales of 2021 so far with 23,500. official chart company.
The single saw his two earlier hits return to the top 40 with ‘When We Were Young’ at 25 and ‘Someone Like You’.
Adele’s latest breakthrough came when she recently broke a new Spotify streaming record with her single.
‘Easy on Me set a new record for most streams in a single day, surpassing the record previously held by K-pop giant, BTS. He set a record for ‘Makkhan’ with 20.9 million streams.
Reviewing ‘Easy on Me’, Granthshala wrote: “For now, though, Adele has returned with a reassuring piece of the classic Adele Balladry. Their fourth album, ’30’, is due out on 19 November.
