Contestant was injured during a daring stunt for the new ‘America’s Got Talent’ spinoff
“America’s Got Talent: ExtremeContestant Jonathan Goodwin is on the long road to recovery after nearly dying in a stunt on the ABC competition series.
On Wednesday, the 40-year-old stunt performer took to social media to update concerned fans about his health. he uploaded a photo from his hospital bed and written, “You can’t say you didn’t get out of what you put in. I’ve done my best to be kind, considerate, honest, helpful, and nice over the years.”
“A few days ago my life took a complete left turn… and love poured in from all corners of the world; people I didn’t even think they would know or remember me… just amazing Really unbelievable,” continued one of the fathers.
“I’ll have a lot more to say on that matter and in the future on the benefits of being kind.. but thank you. Thanks to everyone who has sent their love and support. It’s literally been a lifesaver,” Goodwin continued.

He also thanked his fiancée, British actress Amanda Abington, for being with him.
“I’ve gotten to the very brink and dodge the worst a human can do without fear… Because I was protected by love. Love is all you need, so make sure you get some Come on, because it’s cool—,” said Goodwin. “There’s a long road to recovery and it won’t look like it did… I can leave daft s—alone for a while, but I have too much to do in this world. Maybe Can we do something good together?”
Last Thursday, Goodwin nearly died after being crushed by two cars while suspended in the air.
‘America’s Got Talent: Extreme production halted after contestant injured in stunt
In a previous statement, a representative for the series told Granthshala News: “During a rehearsal for ‘America’s Got Talent: Extreme’ last evening, an accident occurred in which runaway star Jonathan Goodwin was injured during his performance. He was liable. Tha and Tha were immediately taken to hospital where he continues to receive medical care. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family as we await further updates on his condition.”
tmzciting sources at the time, reported that Goodwin was in a straitjacket and was hanging from his feet by a string as two cars were also hanging in the air on either side of him. Goodwin attempted to release himself from the restraints and land on the air mattress as he and the vehicle swung in the air.
Sources claimed that the stunt took a catastrophic turn when the waving cars collided with each other, with Goodwin between them. The cars reportedly exploded “into a giant fireball”, causing the stunt performer to fall to the ground and hit his head.
According to Goodwin’s website, he is a “professional menace” who “put himself in the most extreme situations and dodge death every time.” He has also appeared in “AGT” before 2020, where he completed a different death-defying stunt. In addition, he has featured in several TV shows around the world including “Dangerman” on BBC America. He also works as a stunt consultant and motivational speaker.
Production on “AGT: Extreme” has since been suspended.
