Debra Messing is swiftly coming to Alec Baldwin’s rescue after the actor shot a prop gun and cinematographer Halyana Hutchins and director Joel Souza on the set of his Western film “Rust.”

The “Will & Grace” actress, 53, issued a response to a conservative pundit, who tweeted that the headline reading “Alec Baldwin kills man with gun, criminal investigation underway” was “accurate.”

“It’s not at all,” Messing replied. “He was given a prop gun. He used it in the scene. Then a horrific incident happened where Halnya [sic] Hutchins lost his life and Joel Souza was injured. I am praying for all their families.”

The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department told Granthshala News Thursday that Hutchins, 42, was taken to a University of New Mexico hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

A “misfire”, as the film’s production company called the incident, occurred during a rehearsal of a scene, revealed from 911 dispatch audio obtained by Granthshala News.

Others came to the rescue of 63-year-old Baldwin, including “Rick and Morty” writer Katy Delaney, who tweeted That “it’s not really fair” for the “30 Rock” actor who has been made the “face” of the accident.

“As obviously this story is, but it’s not really fair for Alec Baldwin to be the face of this tragedy,” she wrote. “He wasn’t in charge of loading that gun. Security on set needs to be taken more seriously.”

The Santa Fe New Mexican reported that the 63-year-old actor was seen in tears outside the sheriff’s office. A Baldwin spokesman said the on-set accident involved a prop gun misfire with Blank. According to sheriff’s spokesman Juan Rios, detectives were investigating how and what type of projectile was fired.
