Alec Baldwin ‘discharged’ gun that killed one and injured another on Rust movie set

Authorities have confirmed that actor Alec Baldwin “discharged” the prop gun that killed and injured another on a movie set in New Mexico.

The 68-year-old actor was filming an upcoming western film War When tragedy struck at Bonanza Creek Ranch.

The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department released a statement Thursday night after the incident that led to the death of Helena Hutchins, the film’s director of photography.


According to the statement, accessed by time limit, “Ms Hutchins was airlifted to University of New Mexico Hospital where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel.”

She was 42 years old.

War Director Joel Souza was accidentally shot and is currently undergoing treatment at Christus St Vincent’s Hospital, according to police. The 48-year-old filmmaker is reportedly in emergency care.

Police said the investigation is “open and active” and so far “no charges have been filed in connection with the incident”.

“Witnesses are being interviewed by spies.”
