Alec Baldwin has spoken in public for the first time since shooting a prop gun at slain cinematographer Helena Hutchins on set.

Baldwin fires a prop gun on the set of the film War, which resulted in the death of Hutchins yesterday (October 21) and injuries to director Joel Souza, officials say.

Now, Baldwin has published a series of tweets following the incident.

“There are no words to express my shock and sadness about the tragic accident that took the lives of our wife, mother and deeply admired colleague Helena Hutchins,” he wrote.

“I am fully cooperating with the police investigation to find out how this tragedy happened and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.

“My heart breaks for her husband, their son and everyone who knew and loved Halina.”

After the shooting, Hutchins was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he died. Souza, who was taken by ambulance to a nearby medical center, is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.
