63-year-old Alec discharged a prop gun and killed the film’s cinematographer Helena Hutchins. “Rust” director Joel Souza was also injured but later released from hospital. The incident took place on Thursday at Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe, new Mexico.

“My love and support are with the family and friends of Helena Hutchins. Sending healing thoughts to Joel Souza,” Ireland, 25, wrote on her Instagram Story on Friday. “And I wish I could hug my dad more tightly today.”

Alec’s brother, Stephen Baldwin, also posted a statement instagram About the incident which read, “There is nothing more to be said than to pray friends tonight, please pray for all those involved in this tragic accident thank you.” He captioned the post, “Psalm91.”

Friday morning, Alec mourns For Hutchins’ family and called the shooting an accident.

“There are no words to express my shock and sadness about the tragic accident that took the lives of a wife, mother and our highly admired colleague, Helena Hutchins,” he said on Twitter on Friday morning.

“I am fully cooperating with the police investigation to find out how this tragedy happened and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart goes out to her husband, Broken for his son and all those who knew and loved Halina,” the actor concluded.

“The entire cast and crew are completely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Helena’s family and loved ones,” a spokesperson for Rust Movies Productions LLC said in a statement obtained by Deadline.

“We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period and are cooperating fully with Santa Fe Police Department investigation,” the statement continued. “We will provide counseling services to everyone involved with the film as we work to process this horrific incident.”

As indicated in the statement, the authorities have started an investigation into the incident.

“Mr. Baldwin was questioned by investigators and released,” said a representative for the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, per the outlet. “No arrests or charges have been made.”

He added: “This investigation is open and active. No charges have been filed in relation to this incident. Interviews of witnesses by the detectives are on.”

A news release from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said the deputies were dispatched to the set at around 1:50 p.m. local time, and the call indicated that one person had been shot.
