Alt-J share new single ‘U&ME’ from upcoming fourth album ‘The Dream’

Alt-J has announced their fourth album, ‘The Dream’, and shared its first track, ‘U&ME’ – you can listen to it below.

The new single has been described as the trio’s “most honest song ever” and comes with an accompanying music video, directed by Prosper Unger-Hamilton, brother of band member Gus.

“It’s about being at a festival with your best friends, having a good time, togetherness and feeling in life that nothing could be better than that,” Gus told ‘U&Me.


The track emerged during a soundcheck for the Alt-J show around the world, which Newman said it then “gains momentum on its own”.

For Alt-J’s upcoming record, ‘The Dream’ features “both beauty and darkness”. […] Often merging seamlessly on a single track, a purposeful choice that paid dividends throughout the record”.

The project will feature “true-crime inspired stories and stories from Hollywood and Chateau Marmont”, while offering fans some of the trio’s “more personal moments to date”.

Alt-J has also announced the North American Headline Tour for 2022, which will begin on February 25 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Alt-J teased its comeback on social media last week by sharing the title and release date of ‘U&Me’.

The band’s previous album, ‘Relaxer’, came out in 2017. In a four star review, Granthshala wrote: “[It’s] A tight 40 minutes of music that creates a very modern wallop of sound. Fantastic album, if not utterly relaxing. “
