Amanda Knox has called on freed murderer Rudy Guede to admit that she acted alone in killing Meredith Kercher and “restored her wrongly damaged reputation”.
Guede was released from Italian prison on Tuesday after serving 13 years of a 16-year sentence for the rape and murder of 21-year-old Kercher in Perugia in November 2007.
Guede pleaded guilty to murder and was convicted of manslaughter with her then-boyfriend Raffaele Solecito, and was sentenced to 26 years in prison in 2009 before pleading guilty on appeal six years later.
one in long twitter thread, Ms Knox said Guede has “tremendous power to heal others who have been harmed by her actions”.
“He has the power to tell the truth, to take responsibility, to stop blaming me for Meredith Kercher’s rape and murder, showing a wealth of evidence that she did it alone.”
The 34-year-old writer and activist said she was ready to pardon Gwyde “if she showed true remorse” and made amends for her “horrific crimes”.
“If he truly accepts his responsibility, it will shut down the Kercher family, it will end the speculation surrounding this matter, it will restore my unfairly damaged reputation, and that of Raphael.
Rudy Guede, the man who killed Meredith Kercher and falsely accused me, just got his sentence reduced again. He is now free, and his relationship with the Italian justice system has certainly come to an end. How do you think I guess?

“His honest media coverage will also be exhausted,” wrote Ms Knox, who endlessly repeats the phrase ‘the only person convicted of the murder of British student Meredith Kercher’, which is true, but it means that many responsible There were parties.”
“People change. Rudy? They say the truth will set you free. Today he’s free, and he hasn’t told the truth yet, allows others to bear the burden of his guilt.”
Guede was originally sentenced to 30 years in prison after admitting he had slit Kercher’s throat at the Perugia home she shared with Knox.
That sentence was reduced to 16 years on appeal, and in 2020 he was allowed to leave prison during the day he was released from work.
At the time, Ms Knox was furious at the decision to allow Guede to be released from prison while she continued to claim her innocence and pleaded guilty to murder.
“I’m not upset that Rudy Gede is free. I’m not bothered that the journalists who still defame me to this day are humanizing him, citing his lawyers who claim he is ‘cool and are socially well-integrated’,” she wrote in a medium Post.
“I am upset that he has never admitted to his crimes, that he has never been held fully accountable, and that I continue to bear the burden of his slander.”
