The team behind the indie game that saw a peak of 2 million concurrent players has created a “emergency meetingYesterday (October 4) details of the issues with your server. Several players were unable to create and join games at different points yesterday following a DDoS attack that overloaded the system.
Innersloth has promised that there are no privacy concerns related to the attack and that it will implement preventive measures against further attacks in the future. It acknowledged that progress with this issue is slow as the servers are extensively tested for their durability.
The other main announcement included in the dev log was the introduction of new roles in the game. Currently players can play only three roles as Crewmate, Imposter or Ghost. The developers have promised new roles they want to offer since releasing the game in 2018.
Little has been revealed about the new roles, except that Innersloth is intended to be different from those currently available through mods. At least two roles will be added to it and the update will also be free for all players.
It also detailed the reason behind the delay in the September update. Server releases aside, it wanted the update to be released to all platforms simultaneously to prevent an inferior version of the game from being present only on consoles. A date has yet to be set as Innersloth wanted to be certain of an integrated release.
