An unruly passenger was reportedly taken off a United Airlines flight to Los Angeles after he threatened to break someone’s neck if he asked them to continue wearing a face mask and turn off his phone.
A series of viral TikTok videos, first posted on Thursday but recently reported widely, show the man yelling at flight attendants and threatening to find out their personal details. .
The video was posted by Alexander Clarke, another passenger on the flight. The first video has been viewed more than four million times.
In the video, an unidentified man wearing a green hat is seen removing his face mask while shouting: “Take me off, I don’t even want to go to California.”
“I will find your name, date of birth and address. I will know your social security number before getting off this flight,” said the man, reportedly getting up and aggressively pushing a passenger out of the seat next to him.
According to the footage, he then goes to the flight attendant and keeps on shouting. When another passenger tries to intervene, he tells the person to “focus on your business, [be]Because I will break your neck”.
One of the videos reveals the alleged reason behind the violent uproar, with text on it saying that the man refused to wear a mask and switched off his mobile phone.
The man is also seen shouting and threatening Mr Clark, who was filming the incident, and snatching his phone, demanding that he remove the video. The man then wakes up saying: “Let’s go to jail”, before reportedly being kicked off the flight.
This isn’t the first time a passenger has lashed out at face mask rules during a flight or has been removed for not following it. With the increase in safety protocols following the spread of COVID-19, several such incidents have come to the fore after air travel resumed in the US.
