Apple has held its biggest event of the year, announcing a new iPhone.

Or, more accurately, it just announced four new iPhones in two different ranges and three sizes, just like last year.

And there’s more to come: new iPads, in two different sizes, and a major update to the Apple Watch. It also showed the update to Fitness+ and gave a release date for iOS 15.

Here’s everything Apple announced during its “California Streaming” event — and everything it didn’t.

iphone 13 and mini

As expected, the star of the show was the iPhone 13.

On the outside, the improvements are fairly minimal: The screen has improved slightly, and the notch at the top of the display is 20 percent smaller. There’s also a new pink color, and the lenses are mounted in the camera array.

It is inside where the biggest improvement comes. It has a new processor and a bigger battery – up to 2.5 hours of better battery life – and a new camera system that will be particularly good in low light.

iPhone 13 Pro and Max

After the iPhone 13 came its Pro sibling: a more expensive, more premium, and more full-featured version of the same phone.

Like the iPhone 13, it looks a lot like its predecessor: Its exterior design is similar, and it can be hard to tell the difference from afar. Apart from this, like last year, it has a lot more similarity than difference with the normal iPhone 13.

However, there are differences, and more than last year. It still has a better camera and a different finish than its cheaper sibling – plus the option to get it in max size – but it also includes additional improvements.

For example, the processor is slightly better, allowing for better graphics performance. And it has a completely new display, the promotion feature previously only found on the iPad and allowing for faster refresh rates when needed.

apple watch series 7

The new Apple Watch is the first major redesign in years, though it’s a little less radical than the rumors. Still, the display is huge and the shape of the sides is different than in all earlier Apple watches.

That larger display is more flexible than before, and there are new software features to make the most of it, including exclusive watch faces. It also has 33 percent faster charging and new colors.

Apple Fitness+

Apple’s streaming workout service was released earlier this year and has received a major upgrade. There are new types of workouts, new exercises to do, and new countries.

New iPad and iPad Mini

Not just one iPad but two: Both the cheapest and smallest iPad line-ups both got upgrades.

The changes to the typical iPad are minimal. It has a faster processor and a few other changes, but remains largely the same as last year – which is already the most popular.

The changes to the iPad mini are much more substantial. It’s actually an iPad Air now, with that tablet’s new flat edges, the ability to support the Apple Pencil 2, and a TouchID sensor in the power button.

iOS 15

As well as the new hardware, Apple has finally announced release dates for iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. He will come on 20th September.

It did not give a release date for macOS Monterey, which usually falls a little later in the year.

nothing else

Some of the rumored products which were expected ahead of the launch did not arrive. Most notable among them was a new version of the AirPods, which was widely rumored but didn’t turn out at all.

All of Apple’s other product lines also went without mention. So there was no Mac, Apple TV, home appliances – or anything else.

But Apple is believed to be planning another event next month, which is likely to include at least some computers.
