According to a report, a suspect in an alleged attack on an Arizona sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot by a homeowner while officers were searching for the suspect.


The Maricopa County sheriff’s deputy was found unconscious and bleeding from his face after the apparent attack in Avondale, about 20 miles west of downtown Phoenix, reports Granthshala 10 of Phoenix.

The attack on the deputy prompted a multi-agency manhunt.

on one news conference Earlier on Saturday, police identified the suspect as Clinton Robert Hurley and said he was armed and dangerous. During the search, Hurley became involved in a shootout with a homeowner he knows, and was shot and wounded, Granthshala 10 reported.

Sheriff Paul Penzon previously said Hurley was recently released from prison for a sex offense against a child and is believed to have stolen the injured deputy’s car before killing another man.

The deputy was not identified as other than a three-year veteran of the force.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Granthshala News’ request for comment.
