COvid infections are on the rise and causing concern among scientists and physicians alike who want to see restrictions to stem the spread of the virus are reimposed.

As the number of new daily infections rises to 50,000, suggestions are pouring in for a fourth lockdown.

However, the government has so far stuck to its ‘Plan A’ approach which relies heavily on the effectiveness of the vaccine booster programme.

But Labor has warned that the government’s crucial Covid booster jab program will not be completed until March 2022 on current trends in cases of the virus climbing.

The situation is leaving open many questions as to how we should go about our daily lives at present.

Should we wear masks in all public places? Should we work from home again? Should we reduce contact with friends and family?

All these questions are difficult to answer and hence we have an expert in the field of disease management to help us bring some clarity on the situation.

Bharat Pankhania, a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Exeter, is a former England public health consultant on Communicable Disease Control.
