Arg, who had a major abdominal op in April to limit his food consumption, said his eating disorder spiraled out of control after hitting his substance addictions, causing him to suffer two fatal overdoses. .

‘Comfort-food to escape from emotions’

After succeeding in rehab in Thailand in early 2020, he replaced drinks and drugs with junk food.

He told us: “I was in a good place. I had a healthy balance of food and exercise, a good routine, and I was clean and sober for three months.

“Then as soon as I got home, we went into lockdown, so all my plans to be active and busy with work with boxing and swimming were thrown to the wind.

“I was living alone and even though I wasn’t doing the drinks or drugs that I was so proud of, I was eating comfortably out of boredom and to escape the emotions, and it spiraled out of control.”

The £10,000 gastric op – which Arg paid for itself – was performed by Transform Hospital Group at the private Bercot Hall Hospital near Birmingham.

Due to the drastic reduction in stomach size, Arg can eat only small portions of food, causing his weight to drop dramatically.
