At least two people were killed in a New Jersey crash that followed a police pursuit early Tuesday, according to prosecutors and a report.
The crash – which happened around 5 am near Ridgewood and Bloomfield avenues in Glen Ridge – ended with a mangled car that became wrapped around a tree in the woods, NBC 4 New York reported,
The incident “involves a police pursuit that resulted in fatalities,” according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, who added that the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is taking over the investigation.

A source close to the investigation told NBC the deadly incident happened after cops received a report of an armed robbery.
The Attorney General’s Office did not immediately return a request for information, and no further information was available later in the morning.
