Bake Off viewers were worried last night as Noel Fielding suddenly disappeared from the show.
The 48-year-old presenter fell ill with a mysterious illness and missed out on the contestants who made their showstoppers.
His co-host Matt Lucas told the audience that he was “feeling a little under the weather” as he performed the duties.
Home-watchers were dismayed by Noel’s absence and took to Twitter to comment.
One person wrote: “Where was Noel at the end? #GBBO“
While a third wrote: “Also f**k what happened to Noel Fielding??? he disappeared after the commercials #GBBO“
Meanwhile the presenter caused outrage in the first episode because he used a fake German accent during the show’s first German week.
Fans were surprised as the show also features a German contestant – 56-year-old IT professional Jurgen, who spent most of his life in the Black Forest, Germany before moving to the UK 18 years ago.
During the show, bakers were challenged to make German biscuits and Prinzregententort. He had to make a yeast-leavened cake for his showstopper.
Vegetarian contestant Freya Cox, 19, lost her place on the show after failing to impress the judges.
After their exit, Freya wrote a lovely letter to fans thanking them for their support.
In the letter shared on Bake Off’s official Twitter account, she said: “Goll God, where to start. It was the best experience I’ve ever had in my life.
“I never imagined meeting so many incredible people in such a short time.
“I feel really blessed that I got the chance to share my love of vegan baking with the world.
“If I’ve inspired just 1 person to become a vegetarian, that’s more success for me than winning any day of the week…
