Fashion designer Olivier Rousteing – owner of famed French clothing company Balmain – has revealed that he suffered severe face and body burns after a fireplace exploded in his Paris home last year.

No further details have been shared about how this happened.
Rousteing, who turned 36 last month, wrote: ‘A year ago. I finally feel ready to share it. I have been hiding this for a very long time and it is time for you to know.
‘Exactly a year ago there was an explosion in a fire inside my house. I woke up the next morning at the Hospital St. Louis in Paris. The talented staff of that renowned hospital, which was dealing with an incredible number of COVID cases at that time, took amazing care of me.
‘I can’t thank them enough. I did everything to hide this story from as many people as possible and tried to keep it a secret for a very long time with my teams and friends.
‘To be honest, I’m not really sure why I was so embarrassed, perhaps this obsession with the perfection that fashion is known for and my own insecurities.’ [sic]
