Princess Beatrice has given birth to a baby girl as she and her husband Edoardo Mozzi said they are “delighted” at the arrival of their daughter.
The new mother, 32, herself confirmed the good news, tweeting that the little girl had “safely” entered the world on September 18.
The Queen’s granddaughter gave birth at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, welcoming her baby girl just before midnight at 11.42am.
Beatrice is already a stepmother to Edoardo’s five-year-old son, Christopher Woolf, better known as Wolfie.
As soon as she made the official announcement via Buckingham Palace, Beatrice made sure to give a sweet nod to her husband, the son of multi-millionaire property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
The Palace wrote: “Both His Royal Highness and their child are doing well, and the couple look forward to introducing their daughter to her older brother, Christopher Woolf.”
And Beatrice also made sure to thank the hospital staff after the exciting arrival, writing: “Very happy to share the news of our daughter’s safe arrival at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London at 23.42am on Saturday 18th September 2021 .
“Thank you to the Midwife team and everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care.”
The Palace said the new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have been notified and are happy with the news.
The newborn is the second grandson of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
Beatrice has since been flooded with messages from the royal family, including the Queen and Prince Charles and Camilla.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall tweeted: “Congratulations to Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on the happy news of the birth of their daughter.”
Beatrice and Edo shared the news via Palace today, writing: “Her Royal Highnesses Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are pleased to announce the safe arrival of their daughter at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on Saturday 18 September 2021 at 23.42 am. London.
“The baby weighs 6 pounds and 2 ounces.
“The grandparents and great-grandparents of the new baby have all been informed and they are delighted with the news. The family would like to thank all the hospital staff for their wonderful care.
“Both His Royal Highness and their child are doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her older brother, Christopher Woolf.”
The baby is the Queen’s 12th great-grandson, and Little Lilibet comes just three months after Diana, Harry and Meghan’s second child.
The royal baby was also born a few months after the death of her great-grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Beatrice married in a secret union last July in front of just 20 guests, and announced she was pregnant in May.
The monarch’s great-grandchildren have been swept away in 2021 – Princess Eugenie welcomed baby son in August in February and Zara Tindall welcomed her third child, Lucas, in March.
Beatrice’s child is born 11th in line to the throne.
The first 10 places remain the same, with the new addition to the family entering the line of succession below Beatrice and above Eugenie, who has dropped to 12th.
Earlier this year, glowing Beatrice flaunted her baby bump as she and her husband watched tennis at Wimbledon.
Beatrice wore a white and black polka dot dress with balloon sleeves as she arrived at the Royal Box on Center Court.
Announcing the pregnancy in May, a statement from Buckingham Palace read: “Her Royal Highnesses Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby this autumn .
“The Queen has been informed and both families are happy with the news.”
The announcement was made on the date of the anniversary of the Sussexes – what some experts said was “not an oversight”.
Meghan famously announced that she was expecting baby Archie on the wedding day of Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie.
According to royal sources, she told the Queen and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Eugenie and Jack before the big day on October 12, 2018.
Meghan’s announcement is said to have “furious” Eugenie and Sarah Ferguson and “embarrassed” Harry.
But Eugenie, who lives close to Harry, has probably gone far beyond the drama.
She and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed a baby boy earlier this year.
Little August, who weighed 8lbs 1oz, on Tuesday February 9th at 8.55am.
The family now lives at Frogmore Cottage, Windsor – Meghan and Harry’s former UK home.
He has hosted the Duke of Sussex on both his visits to the UK this year.
