Betty Lynn, who played Thelma Lou on ‘The Andy Griffith Show,’ dies at 95

Although she was born in Kansas City, Missouri, and spent most of her career in Southern California, in 2006 Lynn moved to Mount Erie, North Carolina, the city that served as the inspiration for Griffith’s Mayberry.

He served as an ambassador for the Andy Griffith Museum, regular appearances at the museum To talk to fans and sign autographs.

After two decades of on-again, off-again romance, they eventually married in the 1986 reunion TV movie “Return to Mayberry”, the characters’ final appearance on screen together.
