President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden visited a Coast Guard station and virtually met with service members from around the world Thank you,

On Thursday, Bidens traveled to Coast Guard Station Brent Point in Nantucket, Massachusetts, to meet service members stationed there. The Biden family is staying at the Nantucket home of Carlyle Group co-founder, billionaire David Rubenstein, for the holiday.

Biden thanks immigrants and frontline workers, remembers soldiers in Thanksgiving Day announcement

The President and First Lady spoke to each service member individually and posed for a photo before departing.

According to a White House aide, the president and First Lady also met with soldiers from around the world to “thank them for their service and to extend their best wishes of thanks.” Service members from Bidens included representing the six branches of the military – the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard.

Journalists present at the event raised several questions about the president’s departure, but Biden answered only a question about what he was grateful for this holiday.

“What am I thankful for?” The President replied. “I am grateful for these people. I mean, from the bottom of my heart.”

“Wherever they are, people wonder what America is and they look at them,” Biden continued. “They don’t see what’s here, they see them.”

“You know, as we gather again, our tables and our hearts are filled with grace and gratitude for all those we love,” the president said in a video message with Jill Biden on Thursday. ” “And as Commander-in-Chief, I am especially grateful to our service members and their families for their sacrifices for our country.”

In his proclamation, Biden called for “farm workers and frontline workers, many of whom are immigrants”, for their work of keeping “grocery stores stocked” as well as “keeping our cities and towns clean and safe”. Thank you

Additionally, Biden thanked the scientists who developed the vaccine and military service members “working to vaccinate our nation” to health care workers.
