Bilbao BBK organisers announce new Spanish festival with Arctic Monkeys

Cala Mijas takes place in southern Spain in September 2022

The organizers of Bilbao BBK Live in Spain have announced a new three-day music festival called Cala Mijas.

The festival, to be held in the city of Mijas, south of Málaga, from September 1-3, 2022, has revealed the first 14 names on the bill. Arctic Monkeys have been confirmed for a title slot, with names including Kraftwerk, Hot Chip, Chet Faker and Blossom, among others.

Cala Mijas will also showcase some of Spain’s most exciting new talent, such as electro-punk band El Colampio Asceno, indie group Love of Lesbians and San Senra. More names are to be announced but in the meantime, check out the line-up below.

The new festival will give visitors the chance to enjoy live music at one of the Costa del Sol’s most famous beach venues. The organizers of Kala Mijas have pledged to adhere to the guidelines of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in the manner of executing the festival and promoting its values. In other news, the line-up for next year’s edition of the Bilbao BBK Live festival was announced earlier this month, with LCD Soundsystem, The Killers, Jay Balvin and Pet Shop Boys set to headlining.

After being canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Spanish festival returns next July. This will be the 15th incarnation of the annual event, and is scheduled to run between Thursday 7 July and Saturday 9 July.

The Arctic Monkeys along with Dua Lipa and Kings of Leon were also recently announced as the headliners for the Sziget Festival 2022. The event will take place in Budapest, Hungary from August 10 to August 15. Three day tickets available Here Starting at €195 (£164).
