But not all regions are as lucky, as already rain-soaked Brits prepare for autumn’s first two storms.

Thunderstorms of 50mph will affect parts of Scotland starting today, before the storm begins later in the week.

Meteorological forecaster Ollie Clayden said: “It will be warm but not necessarily sunny as we go through the rest of this week.”

He predicted the highest 22C today, 21C on Wednesday, 23C on Thursday and 22C on Friday.

Ollie said: “There will be some showers around the east coast of Scotland but they will go away later today.

“Yesterday’s picture is like this. A little cloudy here and there, but generally a very nice picture.

“Come Wednesday, there’s a little change. A band of rain is going down from Scotland to the east.”

He said that while the sky will remain cloudy till Thursday and Friday, a maximum of 23 degree Celsius is set to be recorded.

It comes after floods and power cuts were expected on Sunday as two inches of rain fell “in a short period of time”.

There was a yellow weather warning for Sunday, with the potential for flooding, as well as cancellations and delays in public transport.

Others were warned of power cuts and loss of other services.
