The money was raised during a charity motorcycle ride in late August, the first of its kind by Brothers in Arms.

“We have had the privilege of serving our country throughout our careers,” says BIA VMC President Billy Irving.

“Most of us are now retired, we wanted to give back to our community and help out with a local organization we could impact the most. We chose Don House, it’s a wonderful pairing – Maggie And her staff and the amazingly strong and resilient women of Dawn House – how could we not.”

Funds of $12,785 were raised to support the opening of the second facility at Dawn House, something that would greatly help vulnerable women in the Kingston community.

“That means it’s awesome to be able to help us provide the staff,” says Maggie McLaren, executive director of Dawn House. “It’s the on-site support and staff that makes the difference for the women who come, and being able to help them move forward.”

The success of the event has prompted the Motorcycle Club to announce that the charity ride will become an annual event, with local charities such as Don’s House expected to continue their support.
