Toronto police say a mother and her four-month-old baby have been rescued by some Good Samaritans after their vehicle rolled over in Rexdale.
Police received a call about a two-vehicle collision on Albion Road near Arcot Boulevard, where one vehicle overturned, shortly after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
Officials say people standing in front of the vehicle swung into action and helped the mother and her four-month-old baby get out of the overturned vehicle.
“It’s important to understand that they did a great job,” said Toronto Police Media Relations Officer Edward Parks. “It’s great that we all help each other out, especially in these times when we are. It’s always important that we help other people in times of need.”
Police say the mother and child were safely ejected from the car and suffered minor injuries.
“They were both probably shaken up because of their involvement in a rollover, both of which were transferred to the hospital for evaluation,” Parks says.
The person in the other vehicle also suffered minor injuries.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation and closed roads in the area have been reopened.
