Canadian forward Jordan Huitema scored three goals in 17 minutes to help Paris Saint-Germain beat Ukraine’s WFC Kharkiv 5-0 in UEFA Women’s Champions League group play on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old from Chilliwack, BC, scored in the 25th minute. She made it 2-0 seven minutes later, going into a rebound off the crossbar. His third goal came in the 42nd minute from fellow Canadian international Ashley Lawrence.
Poland’s Paulina Dudek took a 4-0 lead in the 59th minute with a corner header at the Stade Jean Boine. Huitema scored his fourth goal in about the 80th minute but his curling shot hit the goalpost. French midfielder Le Khalifi took a 5-0 lead in the 88th match.
Canada’s No. 1 Stephanie LaBe had a game in the PSG goal. It was one-way traffic as the French champions edged out the visitors 42-2 (16-1 in shots on target) and had a 14-0 lead and 69 percent assets in the corners.
PSG (3-0-0) are ahead of Real Madrid, Iceland’s Breedablik and Kharkiv in Group B.
Huitema has 13 goals and one assist in 41 appearances for Canada.
Canadian midfielder Jesse Fleming came in in the 66th minute and was involved in Pernil Harder’s 69th-minute winner in Chelsea’s 2-1 win at Juventus later in Group A on Wednesday.
The Canadian pair could face off on Thursday in a Group D game with Lyon (Kadisha Buchanan) hosting Portugal’s Benfica (Chloe Lacasse).
