The Mexican WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight champion will face IBF holder Plante in the undisputed title decider on November 6.

But the fight threatened to start early at their post-fight press conference in September when the pair were brawling on stage.

Canelo initially pushed Plant, who walked up to him and hit a slap, but took his left hand for trouble.

This has left the fight with more than just the belt on the line, with Alvarez at never-before-seen levels of animosity.

He added: “Having such bad blood with an opponent is new to me.

“It’s very different from the usual and it’s definitely the most hostile thing going into a big fight with an opponent.”

Canelo, 31, was on the receiving end of a verbal attack from Billy Joe Saunders, 32, before his reunification in May.

But Britt Saunders was forced to pay after a brutal right uppercut in the eighth round and was later released to treat four facial fractures.

Canelo now warns it will take even less time to damage the plant, 29, which is unbeaten in 21 bouts.

He said: “I stick to my prediction of a knockout before the eighth round.

“The first two rounds will be difficult, but as the fight progresses, I’m going to be able to get him out of there.

“I gave the message in my press conference that I had to. I have nothing more to say about the plant.

“I’m just going to prepare to face him in the ring on November 6th.”

“It’s very different from the usual and it’s definitely the most animosity going into a big fight with an opponent.

Canelo on Caleb Plant

Canelo is boxing’s pound-for-pound number 1 and current top attraction.

He has overtaken such star names as Miguel Coto, 40, Gennady Golovkin, 39, and Sergei Kovalev, 38, in recent years.

And in 2013 with only one loss to Floyd Mayweather, 44, and world titles in four divisions, Canelo claimed there was nothing Plant could bring to the table that he hasn’t experienced before.

He explained: “I was never involved in what happened at the first press conference between me and Caleb.

“I have been in the ring for big fights like this many times. It will be a challenge for him to be there for such a big fight for the first time.

“He has to control his emotions.”
