Cara Delevingne’s father Charles has revealed that his famous daughter’s name was inspired by a budget airline’s in-flight magazine.

The property developer, 72, flew regularly to Dublin with Irish airline Aer Lingus, and frequently read its in-flight magazine, titled Cara.

Charles told Irish Times During his regular flights to Dublin with the airline, he became fond of the Latin name – translated as ‘friend’.

He explained: ‘I remember going back and forth a lot in Dublin and the name of Aer Lingus magazine was Kara. I liked the name.’

He continued: ‘He is very famous. I’m sick of everyone’s death saying, “You’re Kara’s dad.”

Sadly, Cara magazine is no longer there, as it ceased publication last year due to a decline in airline travel.

The magazine had the most expensive advertising rates of any Irish magazine and was published eight times a year.

News of Kara’s unusual name comes after the supermodel gave a raucous insight into her sex life.
