Clairo returns today with the release of her first single in two years, ‘Blouse’.
The song is the first to be picked up from Claro’s upcoming second studio album, ‘Sling’, which has just been announced and is due out on July 16.
“Blouse” is an incredibly delicate affair, with Jack Antonoff producing and vocals provided by Lorde. It comes on the same day (11 June) as Lorde’s first song in four years, ‘Solar Power’, which was also produced by Antonoff and, in turn, had background vocals provided by Clairo as well as Phoebe Bridgers. .

In a statement shared on Twitter to accompany the announcement, Claire — real name Claire Cottrell — explained the inspiration for the album.
“Jonnie, my dog, opened up my world in ways I didn’t think were capable,” she wrote.
“By caring for her, it forced me to confront my thoughts about parenthood and what it would mean to me. Stories as Lessons, Regrets as Regrets.. Thinking of something/someone before yourself.
“It’s a glimpse into a world where I found that domesticity was what I was missing.”
Arriving at the same time as the single on streaming services, the song is Claire’s first television performance, taking the stage. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
