Temperatures dropped to -10C last night after forecast bringing snow to parts of Britain and leaving some without power as Hurricane Arwen continued to tow Britain.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of severe snow after a cold night over large areas of England, including Newcastle, Manchester, London and Cardiff.
North West Motorway Police said the 62 lorry “got stuck in the snow” on the M120.
Northern PowerGrid, which supplies energy to the Northeast, Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, said 240,000 customers lost service, but on Sunday supplies had been restored to 200,000.
Electricity North West, which provides energy for an area between the Scottish border and Stockport, said 67,000 of the 83,000 customers who lost power had seen their supply restored.
A lorry has been stuck and plows are being used in several areas as pub workers and oasis tribute band Noasis have been stranded since Friday at Tan Hill Inn in the Yorkshire Dales due to heavy snowfall.
