Colleen Rooney has a “dummy run” ahead of her now infamous saga Christie Mole Hunt, new documents are asked to show.
The author created an online sensation in October 2019, when she detailed how she became a spy in a bid to identify who was leaking stories about her to the tabloid press.
In a Twitter post, she explained that by strategically blocking everyone except one person from her personal Instagram account, she was able to identify that person’s account as the source of the articles.
“This is ……. Rebekah Vardy’s account,” she wrote.
Now, court documents viewed Sun The newspaper reportedly went to extraordinary lengths to lay out its plan – including testing the plan.
The 35-year-old – wife of former Manchester United and England star Wayne – first compiled a list of potential suspects from 300 trusted friends and family who follow her Instagram account.
After zeroing in on Ms. Vardy as a possible source, Ms. Rooney posted a series of fake stories that only her prime suspect could see.
But before she could actually execute the plan, it was effectively a dress rehearsal where the post was seen by Leicester City striker Jamie’s 39-year-old wife, among others.
Soon after, she blocked everyone except Ms. Vardy and made a series of fake posts “with people real or worldly” – many of which ended up in the press.
“This led him to believe that it was the claimant [Vardy] Given the established history of who was responsible for the leaks, and the habit of providing private information to journalists and the press,” the documents are said to say.
The papers are part of a defamation battle currently running through the courts after Ms Vardy filed a lawsuit against Ms Rooney for defamation following a public allegation of betrayal.
Their defamation battle is expected to begin in the High Court in April after attention efforts between the two sides failed.
