The song follows the earlier singles ‘Rae Street’ and ‘Before You Gotta Go’. It is the latest flavor of their third album, released on November 12 through Marathon Artists.

Some of the lyrics of the song read: “Sit beside me, watch the world burn / We’ll never learn that we don’t deserve good things / And we’ll scream to ourselves / We tried our best, but what’s the point?

Barnett said of the track: “I found deeper communication with the people in my life — deeper conversations. And a new level of gratitude for friendships that had been around for so long that I might have taken for granted.”

It comes as the Australian singer-songwriter acknowledged the similarity between the recently released music video for his single ‘Before You Gotta Go’ and the Melbourne act Quiver’s clip for ‘You’re Not Always on My Mind’.

Both music videos feature respective musicians going into the field and recording audio samples from the natural world. Additionally, the lyrics to Barnett’s song, “You’re Always on My Mind”, bear the same title as the Quivers song.

On social media, Barnett promoted the Quivers video, saying: “I thought I came up with a beautiful, original idea for a video, but it looks like I was wrong.

“I want to introduce you to the Melbourne Band [Quivers] and director [Nina Renee] Who had the same idea before me,” she wrote. “Any resemblance is purely coincidental and if I had seen this clip when I was making mine I would have completely changed my concept or the way we discovered it.”
