Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo appeared defiant in a newly released video from his summer testimony relating to the sexual assault allegations that led to his eventual resignation.

“You’ve investigated me for six years,” Cuomo told U.S. Attorney Jun Kim at one point during his testimony, alluding to the 2014 federal corruption investigation of Cuomo in which Kim served as the lead lawyer.

The former Democratic governor was in the process of responding to allegations that he touched an employee’s breasts during a hug at the governor’s mansion, something Cuomo repeatedly said “never happened.”

Cuomo said, “I would have to lose my mind to do something — something like that. Touching a woman’s breast and sensitizing a woman myself to such an allegation would be an act of insanity.”

In a video released Monday by the Office of the New York Attorney Generals, Cuomo appears neglectful As he dismissed the allegations against him, insisting that “many people have tried to set me up” and that he is cautious in his interactions with people.

During another exchange, Cuomo is seen dodging the question of whether the woman mentioned in the testimony was his “girlfriend.”

“How do you want to define ‘girlfriend’?” Cuomo asked.

“Did you date her?” Kim asked.

At another point, Cuomo accused Kim of bidding for former US attorney Preet Bharara, whom Cuomo speculated may have “political aspirations” against him.

“You know I said that Preet and you were immoral and should not be considered for attorney general,” Cuomo said. “Preet Bharara has political aspirations, I may have political aspirations against me. His rabbi, your rabbi, Sen. Schumer called for my resignation.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James made public earlier this month transcripts of Cuomo’s testimony and interviews with 10 women in his office who accused Cuomo of harassment. More tapes containing interviews with employees and outside consultants were released Monday, along with video of Cuomo’s after-hours testimony.

A Cuomo spokesperson criticized the “selective” release of the material, accusing James of doing so with political motivation.

“It is special to release today’s hand-picked witness testimony with select improvements. He also edited the governor’s video testimony,” the spokesman said in a statement on Monday. “It is also no coincidence that he decided to release select tapes minutes before the announcement of one of his rivals for governor.”

James’ office did not immediately respond to Granthshala News’ request for comment.
