Darren Aronofsky’s 2017 film Mother! Still impressing audiences, and the director has the fan mail to prove it.

Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem, Mother! is a psychological horror film that sparked controversy through its depiction of violence and biblical and environmental accusations.

The film’s themes were raised again during a masterclass at the El Gouna Film Festival in Egypt on Sunday (October 17), where the director took questions from an audience of young filmmakers, actors and writers.

speaking at the event Mother! (Via Diversity), Aronofsky said: “We were nervous about how controversial it was going to be, but then when you release a movie to the world, and there are a lot of angry people, you start to wonder. , ‘Wait, what did I do?’.

“I get some of the best hate mail ever, which is great.”

Aronofsky said that an angry onlooker even managed to get his number and texted him that they would consume coal and destroy the planet as much as possible. “But other than that, the kind of excitement and passion you get from other people really reminds you why you’re doing this,” the director said.

Aronofsky’s next film is psychological drama whale, which follows a 600-pound middle-aged man named Charlie, who tries to be reunited with his 17-year-old daughter after leaving his family for his gay lover.


The film stars Brendan Fraser, Hong Chow, Sadie Sink, Samantha Morton and Ty Simpkins, Samuel D. In a screenplay written by Hunter.
