Two former employees of an Ohio daycare center are facing charges after being accused of abusing a young child in their care.
Teacher James Ciolino was taking care of 10 children in his class in June this year when a four-year-old girl left the room with another class, reports local 12. The second grade teacher, Jennifer Miller, noticed and called Mr. Ciolino to come pick her up, then opened the door and pushed the girl back into the room.

Video footage from daycare surveillance cameras showed Mr Ciolino, who is reportedly 6 feet tall and about 315 pounds, places his hand on the girl’s chest and pushes her hard enough to knock her down.
In the video, the girl can be heard crying as Ms Miller, who witnessed the incident, closed the door behind her and left. The child sobbed on the ground for about a minute as Mr Ciolino ignored him, before picking him up and leading him to the front office. He did not appear to stop to investigate the injuries.
Lisa McMillian, director of the Wild Kingdom Early Learning Center, filed charges against the pair. He said he immediately recognized something was amiss and pulled the surveillance video. Seeing the footage, he immediately fired two teachers and informed the police about the incident as well as informed the girl’s family.
“The video itself has all the truth it needs. So as soon as you see it or as soon as you see it, you know right away what to do,” said Ms McMillian. “You just know that something is not right with that cry. As a mother, you know when something is not right. And as a director, I know all those kids and I know that How do they cry?
The girl’s mother, Ernestine Puma, told Local 12 that she was broken. “I was like, ‘What is this?’ I cried. I couldn’t hold it. I was so heartbroken. The man pushed her away like a beast,” said Ms. Puma.
She continued: “A little child who knows nothing, whom she only knows to play, eat and sleep in life. You press her to your chest and she’s lying there crying, and you’re still doing what you were doing? What a heartless man.”
Police accused Mr Ciolino of assault and endangering children and Ms Miller of endangering children. Both have pleaded not guilty and are due to face trial on December 3.
