Daylight shooting marks 3rd homicide investigation in Toronto in less than 24 hours

Toronto police say one person was killed in a shooting Saturday afternoon in the west end of the city.

Police said on Twitter that emergency workers were called at 3:42 p.m. to report a shooting in a plaza parking lot in the Weston Road and Highway 401 area.

Officers arrived and saw that a man had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.


Nothing can be said on any suspicious information.

The incident marks the city’s third murder investigation in less than 24 hours.

Police said emergency workers were called to the area of ​​Jane Street and Yorkwoods Gate, south of Finch Avenue West, shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday for reports of a man lying on the ground, unresponsive and Wasn’t breathing.

It was determined that he had been shot. He died at the scene.

Police said officers were called to the shooting east of Eglinton Avenue and Tretheway Drive at 2:20 p.m.

A 36-year-old man was shot in an apartment unit and died on the spot.
