“Thank you for sharing our grief, and for making it easier to carry on when you were fighting your own battles…

“And thank you for making Greg a special person in your life. I’m so glad we all existed at the same time. We’re only temporary, let’s make our temporary extraordinary.”

In August, talented artist Greg revealed that his cancer treatment had been discontinued and was being cared for at Countess Mountbatten Hospice near Southampton.

The father-of-two called the nurses “angels” and said they were facing an uncertain future.

The heartbreaking post read: “The pain is mostly under control and the nurses here are no less than an angel. But I am now in an uncertain future where I don’t know how much time I have and how the days will look. Trying to get home for a few hours to see the kids, who are energizing, and hope I can still find time to make.

“I am impossibly lucky to have all the thoughtful souls in cyberspace, along with my family and friends, whom I have never met, but regularly beam me up with their good vibes.

“I still believe in magic, the power of a good gesture and laughter. I wish to fill the days to come with all these and more.”

The bands – Aaron, Greg, Colin Fox and Rowley – were inspired by Manic Street Preachers and The LA.

He counts TV presenter Holly Willoughby as a fan and she recently said that the band will always have a place in her heart.

She recalls the band performing on her children’s TV show Ministry of Mayhem and sent her love after reading the news of Greg’s treatment.

Greg’s last social media post came six weeks ago when he shared an incredible piece of ink artwork called The Face of God Was on the Water that was completed while he was in hospice.
