Dolly is a type of Parton. In 1978, the “Jolene” singer was asked about her physical preference in a partner. She said that she is always attracted to men who are made like her husband Carl Dean. The thing is, Dean is rarely photographed. So it’s hard to know exactly what that type is. Thankfully, Parton elaborated.
Dolly Parton has never met a man I didn’t like.
Dolly Parton loves men. She’s been there since she was little. Growing up, many of her friends in school were boys. Although she never dated her classmates (she felt too much like her mother), she was constantly in love with the boys from the neighborhood.
“Hell, I’ve had boyfriends since I was three,” she wrote in her 2020 book, Dolly Parton, songwriter: My Life in Lyrics. “I’ve always loved boys. I have my darlings. I’m like Will Rogers, ‘I’ve never met anyone I didn’t like.'”
Parton’s early interest in love inspired her to write romantic songs as a child.
“I’ve been writing Dil Ka Dard songs since I was a little kid,” she wrote. “Whether it’s young love, new love, or first love, it’s about as real as you’re going to feel when you grow up.”

Parton married Dean in 1966. Playboy also asked Parton what attracted her to her husband. It was much more than his slim frame.

Parton met Dean on his first day in Nashville. She had started doing laundry at the laundromat near her uncle’s house (where she was living) when she decided to go for a walk. Immediately, a man in a white Chevrolet called to him. It was the dean. He told her that she was going to get sunburned. They started talking and Dean asked Parton to leave. The country’s queen initially refused, but she told him she could help care for her child the next afternoon. She did and they had a great time, so Parton agreed to go on a date with her. Two years later, they got married. Even after 50 years they are still together.
