Doves cancel all upcoming live dates due to Jimi Goodwin’s mental health

The Doves have canceled all their upcoming tour dates due to the mental health of frontman Jimmy Goodwin.

The shows, which include their UK and Ireland tour in early 2022, have all been shelved and both the band and Goodwin have issued detailed statements on their decision to end the jaunt.

“Unfortunately, I am not committed to the upcoming Doves live dates, which means they will have to be cancelled,” Goodwin wrote.

“My decision to bow down is my belief, not something I have taken lightly. One should never apologize for having problems with my mental health, but I want to say ‘sorry’ to everyone who bought tickets I am truly grateful for the patience, love and understanding of my brothers Andy, Jazz and Rebelsky.

“I’m also incredibly grateful for the support, love and appreciation people have shown for Doves’ music over the years. The reception ‘The Universal Wants,’ our first LP in 11 years, has made us extremely proud of. -What a wonderful affirmation from Jazz, Andy and I. Sunshine during these tumultuous times. Thank you.”

The band stated that refunds for all tickets are available from the point of purchase.

He also added: “We are sorry to say that all upcoming pigeon live dates have to be cancelled. Our sincere apologies to everyone who has bought tickets is the news that we are finding it incredibly difficult to put into words, knowing no one will lessen your disappointment. To be honest, we feel it too.

“We have to take each other’s well-being as seriously as music and sadly, mental health issues simply mean that it is not possible for us to perform live at the moment or for the immediate future.”

The dates, which were originally scheduled for March and April in 2020 but were postponed due to COVID-19, will be in support of the band’s recent comeback album ‘The Universal Wants’.
