Dua Lipa has admitted that she feels more “in control” than ever on her upcoming new album.

The singer’s nod to the 2020 smash ‘Future Nostalgia’ was first teased back in January, when Lipa said she had done “a big part of the writing” for the new record.

In March, she then revealed that the album was “50 percent done” and “starting to take shape”.

Now, she has spoken more about the new record, saying Vogue Australia,As I’m writing my new album, I feel even more liberated in a completely different way. And more in control than I thought I was.”

Asked what liberation means to her, she said: “Freedom, especially as a woman, to be able to take things into your own hands, to be in control of what you believe in . is actually a voice.”

His comments echo the same kind of comments he made the trend, earlier this year.

“I have definitely grown up. Overall, whether it is phonically or in terms of subjects, I have matured,” she said at the time.

“It’s like I’m coming to my power and not afraid to talk about things,” she added on the third album. “It’s about understanding what I want.”

Earlier this month, the singer’s lawyers called for the copyright infringement lawsuit surrounding the track “Levitating” to be dismissed.

Lyricist duo L. Russell Brown and Sandy Linger alleged that Lipa “duplicated” the opening melody from her 1979 song ‘Wiggle and a Giggle All Night’ and the 1980 song ‘Don Diablo’ for her 2020 single, “Signature”.

Plantiff’s complaint argued that Lipa had previously stated that it “deliberately imitated bygone eras” to create a “retro” sound. Lawyers for the pair wrote: “In the quest of disinterested inspiration, the defendants copied plaintiff’s composition without charge.”
